PAYT tariff is new among Energy and Environment Engineering students in Leiria

The LIFE PAYT project was the subject of discussion at the 5th Environmental Engineering Day, organized by the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria on 16 May. The project coordinator, Professor Célia Dias-Ferreira, surprised the students at various times during her presentation. When explaining what the LIFE PAYT project consisted of, the audience was surprised and, even though they were students of the Degree in Energy and Environmental Engineering, many were unaware of the PAYT tariff.

The project coordinator presented data on economic benefits through job creation stimulated by the Circular Economy and addressed the waste management model in Portugal. One of the strengths was to inspire the public of students and academic teachers to separate waste.

The event also presented good examples of national and innovative products based on the concept of eco-design. The audience was very interested in learning more about waste management with the PAYT system.
