Workshop on “Biowaste Diversion” organized by the National Technical University of Athens
On the 18th of November, a workshop focusing on the diversion of the biodegradable waste from landfills was organized by the National Technical University of Athens in line with LIFE PAYT project. Representatives from the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment of Cyprus, as well as Larnaka Municipality gave thorough presentations focusing on the possible ways of diverting biowaste from landfills. In addition, attention was stressed on the valuable contribution of PAYT schemes on accelerating biowaste diversion from landfills. Amongst the 38 participants, representatives of Cypriot and Greek Municipalities provided valuable feedback considering their experience on waste management issues.
