The 3rd edition of the Training Action in Home Composting took place on the 26th of June, in Bairro da Forca-Vouga, in Aveiro. The action had the participation of residents who live in houses and who received the compost kit. This third and last training action was recorded, so that it can be viewed by all who are interested in better understanding what this composting process consists of, sensitizing and empowering, in this way, not only the residents of Bairro da Forca-Vouga, like the general population. Training session for local elected representatives: “Waste Management and PAYT Tariff Systems”

At a time when national legal regulations impose the implementation of PAYT-type tariff systems by municipalities in the short/medium term, it is essential that decision-makers have sufficient tools that allow them to recognize the environmental and economic sustainability associated with this type systems in order to make informed decisions. 3rd Training Action on Domestic Composting in the Urbanization of Forca-Vouga (Aveiro)

LIFE PAYT Project team prepares a Virtual Guided Tour on the pilot experience, in Aveiro

The team from the IPC and the Aveiro City Council, together with a company specialized in audiovisual productions, visited the Urbanization ofForca-Vouga, in Aveiro, on the 29th of March 2021, to prepare a video entitled “Virtual Visit of the LIFE PAYT Project: Aveiro”, which will show the implementation of the LIFE PAYT project in Forca-Vouga, in Aveiro. This video will be presented, shortly, in a virtual event, to the Steering Committee and can be viewed by all entities that are interested in knowing a little more about the LIFE PAYT Project pilot experience, in Aveiro.

LIFEPAYT project in AVEIRO achieves a significant increase in the separation of recyclable waste

The 2nd Waste Characterization Campaign was carried out in the 26 conditioned access containers, installed in Aveiro, between 11 and 14 November 2020. This campaign, together with the one carried out in 2017, allowed to evaluate the impact of the actions of the LIFEPAYT project on the production of waste in the Bairro da Forca-Vouga. In general, the results showed a significant reduction in recyclables in PAYT containers: 50% less paper / cardboard, 40% less glass and 30% less plastics, compared to 2017. LIFEPAYT Project, in Aveiro, completed its field experience with success

On November 16, 2020, the pilot experiment in the Urbanization of Forca Vouga ended, with PAYT containers on the ground, with enormous success. This experiment aimed to test a prototype of collective use surface container, with access control, for the deposition of undifferentiated urban waste. PAYT containers were operational on the ground between September 15 and November 16, 2020. Domestic and non-domestic users in the pilot area, in order to deposit their waste, had to use a PAYT card with chip, individual for each waste producer. Residents from Forca-Vouga neighborhood, in Aveiro, join LIFEPAYT Project

On October 15th and 19th, approximately a month after the installation of the new PAYT waste containers in the Forca-Vouga neighborhood in Aveiro, the LIFEPAYT project team made a photographic survey of the situation (see situation of 25 containers on the day 15 and day 19 of October).
