LIFE PAYT team conducts a survey for the non-domestic sector in Condeixa-a-Nova

On the 16th, 21st and 22nd of January and on the 4th and 5th February 2020, the IPC and CMC teams conducted a face-to-face opinion surveys in several parishes in the municipality of Condeixa-a-Nova, as part of an action developed under the LIFE PAYT Project. Focused only at the non-domestic sector, the surveys aimed to collect the perception and behavior of those responsible for the commercial establishments regarding the management of waste produced. Condeixa-a-Nova has two new vehicles to measure the volume of waste and promote recycling

Monitoring Committee of the LIFE PAYT project meets in Condeixa-a-Nova

On the 21st of November, the second meeting of the LIFE PAYT Project Monitoring Committee was held in Condeixa-a-Nova, which was attended by several entities, such as ERSAR, LIPOR, Maiambiente, CCDRC, VALORSUL and the ZERO Association. Monitoring visit to the LIFE PAYT project in Condeixa-a-Nova

Condeixa-a-Nova started free collection of waste from commercial establishments

The Center of Solid Urban Waste (ERSUC) started in August a free door to door collection service for waste from business premises of Condeixa-a-Nova, announced today by the authority of the municipality of the district of Coimbra. “In order to increase the amount and quality of recyclables, the ERSUC in collaboration with the municipality of Condeixa began on August 20th the selective door-to-door collection service  dedicated to the commercial establishments” (non-domestic sector), said the authority. Technical visit to the PAYT initiative at the historical center of Guimarães (Portugal)

  On 15 November, the technical team of the project LIFE PAYT visited Vitrus Environment to monitor the implementation of PAYT in the historic center. The visit was aimed at sharing knowledge and experiences in PAYT systems. They discussed various issues related to the system, the frequency of collection, the applicable rate, awareness campaigns, among others. Throughout the afternoon, the LIFE PAYT project team followed one of the collections door-to-door made by Vitrus. Condeixa tests the adaptation of sensors in vehicle for waste collection

Before launching the bidding notice to adapt the collection waste vehicle and the containers with RFID to control the opening of  the waste bins, the city conducted a pilot test to help define the technical specifications. For this test, a garbage collection vehicle of the municipal fleet has been adapted with an RFID reader and antenna; In addition, RFID tags were installed in 200 containers and placed in commercial establishments in Condeixa; And an experimental management system (software platform) was installed on a computer. Condeixa gets to know the composition of their municipal waste
